In 1946, Paul Moak Opens Its Doors Downtown
Incorporated in 1946, Paul Moak's automotive history began with the Pontiac franchise located on Pascagoula Street (currently where Thalia Mara Hall is located), operating under the name Madison Auto Sales. In 1957, Paul G. Moak, Sr. became a part owner in the dealership and the name was changed to Lane-Moak Pontiac, Inc.
As the city of Jackson expanded its community and cultural center, the Paul Moak Automotive dealership relocated to Jackson's "Auto Row" on South State Street. South State Street became the home to many of the Paul Moak brands over the next 50 years, including Pontiac, Honda, Volvo, and Subaru. A second GM dealership, Paul Moak of Ridgeland, featuring Pontiac, Buick, and GMC Trucks was purchased in Canton in 1991 and relocated to its current home in Ridgeland in 1994. Besides adding franchises, the Paul Moak organization also added family: Paul G. Moak, Jr. joined the organization in 1971, Jeanne Moak Scarbrough in 1999, and John T. Scarbrough in 2002. The Paul Moak organization to this day is wholly family-owned and operated, with a member of the Moak family present daily.
And in 2008, Paul Moak Opens New Doors
As the roads leading to and from the city center have changed, so have the needs of the automotive consumer. In 2000, Paul Moak Honda relocated to a new facility at I-55 and High Street, and in 2008, Paul Moak Volvo and Paul Moak Subaru joined alongside in a brand new, state-of-the-art facility. The new location is effectively poised to conveniently and centrally serve the Volvo and Subaru communities, offering a one-of-a-kind dealership experience for sales, service, and parts.

A Tradition of Excellence: Our Brands
Beginning in 1977, Paul Moak spans over a 30-year history with Volvo. A shortage of vehicles led the brand to make plans to remove its presence from the Jackson market. Paul G. Moak, Sr. met with the manufacturer and offered to train sales and service staff to sell and repair Volvo automobiles in exchange for new product when it came available. This began a tradition of superior sales and service training, that has had Paul Moak Volvo employees training in not only Dallas and Atlanta, but also in Volvo's New Jersey office and even all the way to Sweden. Paul Moak Volvo's commitment to customer satisfaction continues today, with employees receiving national recognition for technical excellence, and inclusion in an exclusive management guild. In 2007, Paul G. Moak, Jr. was presented with a 30-year commemorative plaque to recognize three decades of partnership with Volvo.
In 2001, Subaru of America was looking to reenter the central Mississippi market after a 5-year absence from the area. The manufacturer approached Paul G. Moak, Jr. about acquiring the brand for the dealership group. Subaru's vehicle lineup of all-wheel drive vehicles offered a safe, reliable brand for customers with an impressive service and performance history. Subaru seemed to be a good fit for the Paul Moak group, offering the type of vehicle Paul Moak customers appreciate for performance and durability. The Paul Moak Subaru staff has trained extensively to be able to provide existing Subaru customers with superior customer support and to effectively demonstrate the brand's reliability, performance, and safety features.
A Tradition of Excellence: Our Commitment
For over 50 years, Paul Moak dealerships have served the Central Mississippi community from their downtown home. The Paul Moak family is thankful for the patronage of their many customers throughout the last five decades, and looks forward to continuing this relationship in the future.
